Police search for 3 suspects in armored truck robbery

Police search for 3 suspects in armored truck robbery

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating yet another armored truck robbery in South Florida.

North Miami Beach Police along with the FBI are on the lookout for three dangerous suspects. They say the trio fled the scene of a Loomis armored truck robbery at the Staples office supply store located at 735 NE 167 St. at about 9:30 Tuesday morning.

Article ImagePolice have released a still image of a man entering the store who they have named a "person of interest." A surveillance camera captured the image of the man a few days earlier, and, they say, he may have been scouting the scene before the robbery.

Though no shots were fired during the robbery, authorities still consider this crime as seriously as any of the recent armored truck robberies in South Florida over the past year, which have included injures and even deaths. Police say, in this most recent stickup, at least one of the men brandished an AK-47 assault rifle.

After getting their cash, the suspects fled in a black Dodge Durango. The armored truck driver tried to pursue them but apparently could not keep up. "The armored truck actually went after the subject for a few blocks, lost sight of them, and returned back to the Staples to obviously call police and file this report," explained North Miami Beach Police Detective Armando Sotero.

Authorities have not released how much money the crooks stole in this latest armored truck robbery.

Police ask anyone who recognizes the individual in the still image or has any other information that might help detain these suspects to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
